The helicopter was so close Holly could feel the thump of its blades inside her chest.

Lori,
I could see this one. The only helicopter ride that I ever took was in a glass-bottomed helicopter, over Toronto, in 1973. They were still building the CN Tower. We went over it and it was cool! I do remember being nervous, though, and kept checking both blades to make sure that there was no change in the way they were spinning.
The floor is safe. I jump on it with the kids. It drives my wife nuts!
I'm not sure if I would do the helicopter again, although I did get cancelled out of a hot air balloon this summer because of high winds (I got my money back -$200). I always wanted to try that.
Here you will find writing prompts to jump start your imagination and inspire you as a fiction writer. Every Wednesday I post a first line which you can use as a starting point to write your own fabulous, tragic, magical, hilarious and hopefully award-winning short story. Want more? Check back often for other prompts designed to keep the words flowing. You'll also find the occasional author interview, book review or musing from me as I share my own journey as a writer.

Good for you! I've never been in a helicopter. (I'm a writer, I just imagine this stuff! lol).
Now the observation deck of the CN Tower has a glass floor. I don't know if I would have the nerve to stand on it though. I'm a pretty big chicken.
